Oxford Academicals Rowing Club is a section of the University Club at the University of Oxford, UK. Formed in the summer of 2004 as a result of a discussion between two regular Oxford rowers, the Club was originally set up to provide the opportunity for University staff and postgraduate students to row throughout the year, unlike college-based rowing, which is usually restricted to term-time rowing for undergraduate and graduate students. The Club's remit has expanded to include non-University members, who may make up to a fifth of the total Club membership.
In 2011, Academicals are entering crews into the Head of the River, the Women's Head, Abingdon Head, Oxford City Bumps, Wallingford regatta, the Metropolitan regatta, Putney Town regatta, Women's Henley, Henley Royal, Kingston regatta, Maidenhead regatta, Henley Town and Visitor, and City of Oxford Royal regatta. |
