Oxford Academicals Rowing Club (OARC) is the newest rowing club at the University of Oxford, UK. Formed in the Summer of 2004 as a result of a discussion between two regular Oxford rowers, the club provides the opportunity for University staff and postgraduate students, who are members of the University Club, to row throughout the year.
Typically rowing at Oxford has consisted of College based rowing (usually restricted to undergraduate and graduate students from each college) and Oxford University Boat Club. Academicals enables University staff and postgraduate students (both with and without college connections) to partake in rowing as a recreational and competive sport.
Our home is the Isis Boathouse, situated just upstream of Iffley Lock. Club rowing generally takes on either two options: (i) squad rowing; (ii) social rowing.
